The Thunder are in a very good situation. They can take either Rubio or Thabeat with the third pick. Whichever is available. They can also trade out of it. I think Rubio is the best pick for the team. I'm not sure how excited he is to come to OKC. The team chemistry is one of the strong points of the Thunder. Some argue that they don't need another PG. Yes they do. With the NBA game 48 minutes long, that is 96 minutes for the two guards that play there. Westbrook and the 2 guard and Rubio could easily get 30 minutes each. He is young and exciting and already has name recognition. He would add more to the OKC fan base. Could you imagine OKC Thunder shirts being sold in Europe?
Thabeat is raw and may not ever develope offensively. That is the risk you take with drafting him. However, the defensive presence may allow a team to do things they couldn't do otherwise. He would give the Thunder a shot blocker. But, he isn't going to be a superstar.
The third option is to trade the pick for players that will work for the Thunder.
